Women’s Equality Day

Special Dates

Today we celebrate the adoption of the 19th Amendment which gave voting rights to some — not all — women. It was a stepping stone towards equal voting rights for all women and we celebrate that while continuing to fight for gender equity.

Women’s Equality Day is observed in the United States every year on August 26 to mark the achieving advancement of women’s rights towards equality with men. The event is marked to remember the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which granted American many women the right to vote in 1920.
