CFT call to remove from office Donald Trump, seven California congressmembers, and Senators Hawley and Cruz
January 9, 2021

Resolution

Whereas, on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, Donald J. Trump made it excruciatingly clear why he should not be President of the United States of America when he deliberately directed, encouraged, and incited his base, a group of terrorists, to storm the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., who then trespassed against, burglarized, and vandalized our primary seat of democracy, and threatened the lives of duly elected officials performing their constitutional responsibilities therein, as the world watched in horror; and

Whereas, the violence perpetrated upon the Capitol was not a protest, but an insurrection fueled, kindled, and ignited by President Trump and his allies, and undoubtedly treasonous in its nature; and

Whereas, the acts of President Trump and his congressional accomplices leading up to, during, and after this failed coup is unconscionable, and nothing short of seditious behavior that cannot be overlooked and must be considered unpatriotic; and

Whereas, nine of 11 Republican members of the House of Representatives from California — Rep. Ken Calvert (Corona), Rep. Mike Garcia (Santa Clarita), Rep. Darrell Issa (Vista), Rep. Doug LaMalfa (Richvale), Rep. Kevin McCarthy (Bakersfield), Rep. Devin Nunes (Tulare), Rep. Jay Obernolte (Big Bear Lake) — voted to reject the Electoral College votes from Pennsylvania and Arizona, even after Trump’s repeated failure to legally challenge election results due to fraud, and who helped to incite this domestic terror attack through their attempts to overturn the 2020 election; and

Whereas, these actions of the President and these nine members of Congress from California equate to criminal actions bordering on sedition and treason, they must be held accountable for their actions;

Whereas, Every member of the Senate takes a sacred oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. Upholding that oath is a matter of conscience. The behavior of Senators Hawley and Cruz, culminating in the assault on the seat of our democracy, shocks that conscience and any senator exhorting such an assault violates their sworn oath and is unworthy of holding federal office;

Therefore be it resolved, that the CFT call for Donald J. Trump’s immediate removal from the office of President either by impeachment, the 25th Amendment, or resignation; and

Be it further resolved, that the CFT call for criminal sanctions and expulsion of California’s nine congressional officers who violated their sacred oaths of office by their complicit actions to incite domestic terrorism on the U.S. Capitol; and

Be it further resolved, that the CFT call on the entire California Republican congressional delegation to stand up for democracy and actively demand the peaceful transition of power and to stop baselessly claiming that there was widespread voter fraud that would have changed the outcome of the election, thus supporting democracy and the will of the voters; and

Be it finally resolved, that the CFT call for the immediate removal from office of Senators Hawley and Cruz who violated their sacred oaths of office by their complicit actions to incite domestic terrorism on the U.S. Capitol.
