Share My Lesson’s free, for-credit Virtual Conference is coming
on March 22-24. It’s one of AFT’s biggest educational events
each year with 70,000 registrations coming from preK-12 teachers,
school support staff, specialized instructional support
personnel, higher ed faculty, parents and caregivers. Join
your colleagues for this three-night virtual professional
development conference that you can attend in the comfort of your
Governor Newsom has allocated $3 billion in the state budget
for 2021-22 to help expand existing community schools and
establish new ones, and the CFT is excited to announce the launch
of our community schools training program.
Our initial training is designed to give preK-12 union leaders a
brief overview and understanding of community schools as
well as the capacity to assess your current school climate and
determine if it would be a good candidate to become a community
Union Summer School is back in 2022! It is tentatively
scheduled for June 27-July 1 at the Kellogg Conference West
Center in Pomona.
The CFT Union Summer School program is geared for emerging
and veteran local leaders who want to take their skills to the
next level. The week-long event, to be held at UC San Diego, is
filled with rigorous workshops, motivated and skilled trainers,
and applied learning. There is also the opportunity to share best
practices with local leaders from across the state and to find
inspiration in one another’s work.

We are excited to announce the return of the CFTLeadership Conference. The conference will be held in-person at the Hyatt Regency on San Francisco’s Embarcadero.
The Leadership Conferencewill bring members together to organize around our union’s work to help address the shortage of staffing at schools and other key issues under the theme “Organizing for Racial and Social Justice in Education.” There will be organizing and political strands, and a racial and social justice strand to give members the skills and knowledge to address the systemic racism in our society and in the educational community.
Attendees will have the opportunity to attend useful plenaries and workshops, hear inspired guest speakers, and get important updates to keep your knowledge current and sharpen your skills as union leaders.
The Leadership Conference is being held in conjunction with Division Council meetings and State Council, the policymaking body of CFT in between Conventions. CFT-hosted meals are available to members attending these events.
Please note: COVID safety protocols will be in place. Attendees with be required to show proof of vaccination in advance of the event. A booster is recommended. Rapid COVID tests will also be administered on-site.
