Support the Current 50% Law

Resolution

Whereas, the primary work of the California Community College system is to provide instruction to students, and through instruction, pathways to further education, careers, and to economic and social wellbeing;
Whereas, it is in the interest of students to ensure that College budgets accurately reflect the costs of instruction and that allocations are in compliance with or above the 50% that is required;
Whereas, there is a need to clarify the components and categories of funding that constitute instruction, in order to ensure that prescribed percentage of general funds is indeed allocated to instruction;
Therefore, be it resolved, that the regulatory laws be amended to include penalties applicable to Basic Aid districts; and
Be it finally resolved, that the CFT work to compel the CCCCO and its Board of Governors to enforce regulatory process and ensure full compliance with the 50% law.
