Support for Adult Education in Community Schools
Whereas, California statute defines community schools as public schools with “strong and intentional community partnerships ensuring pupil learning and whole child and family development.” In practice, each community school may look different; and
Whereas, Community Schools provide parents the opportunity to have a voice in determining services for the whole community and whole families; and
Whereas, parent involvement is an essential element in their children’s success,
Therefore, be it resolved, that CFT encourage all locals with an Adult Education program to include classes that benefit parents in their Community School plans, for example ESL, Citizenship, CTE, High School Diploma/High School Equivalency, and Parenting.
