CFT State Council – October 4, 2025
This report provides an update on the activities of the CFT One Faculty Task Force, including Phase One goals and member list.
Achievements to Date
- Developed a paradigm-shifting One Faculty Vision statement adopted in October 2024.
- Formed six subcommittees:
- Strategic Planning & Process
- Coalition Building
- Awareness & Communications
- Legislative Action
- Bargaining
- Local Focus
- Presented at the AFT/AAUP Higher Ed conference (Feb 2024).
- Held panels and workshops promoting the One Faculty model.
- Created FAQs, toolkits, and local Senate resolution templates.
- Sponsored legislation (AB 1028) on due process rights for part-time faculty.
Phase One Goals
- Develop accessible online materials for engagement by Fall 2025.
- Distribute needs assessment to community college locals.
- Revisit AB 1028 for new legislative proposals in October 2025.
- Publish a toolkit for One Faculty Week (Oct. 27–31, 2025).
- Foster statewide discussions and coalitions.
- Develop collective bargaining and mobilization tools through 2026.
