Assignment will require considerable travel throughout the region
and occasional travel around the state.
Salary Range: $74,298.84- $94,826.34 (depending on qualifications and experience), plus full employee fringe benefit package: health, dental and vision plans and retirement program.

The CFT is the California affiliate of the AFT, AFL-CIO representing education workers in public and private schools and colleges, from early childhood through higher education.
Field representatives for the CFT perform a wide range of tasks covering organizing, negotiating, and training in both public and private sector arenas related to education. A field representative’s responsibilities may include work with certificated and classified employees ranging from preschool through post-graduate. Field representatives are assigned to AFT/CFT locals in specific geographic areas.
Qualifications and Experience
- Willing to work long and irregular hours.
- Dedicated to social and economic justice, and higher education access.
- In possession of an insured vehicle and valid driver’s license.
- At least 6 months of previous labor and/or community organizing.
- Experience in community, student, labor, or environmental activism is a plus.
- Competent in basic computer/web functions and social media platforms as well as data management and calendaring systems.
- The ability to work collaboratively with others, and motivate campaign staff, volunteers and members.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and in a high-pressure environment while also taking direction and incorporating feedback from the campaign director.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct one-on- one site and house visits and attend meetings with employees
- Chart workplaces and relationships and maintain accurate lists
- Assess, move and test workers
- Identify and develop leaders
- Set up and oversee phone banks, Hustle campaigns, meetings and trainings and other volunteer organizing activities
- Plan activities, events and actions based on campaign priorities
- Attend regular meetings with the campaign director and other leaders to discuss progress and establish benchmarks and goals for assigned turf.
- Effectively communicate the campaign rap and strategic vision to workers and assist with written campaign communications
Membership in the CFT Field Representatives Union is required. CFT requires proof of vaccination as a condition of employment.
