Educators available for comment all day Tuesday

While most statewide races feature little drama this year, the too-close-to-call contest for State
Superintendent of Public Instruction is a high stakes race for educators, parents and students. The CFT backs a teacher and solid advocate for what students need, incumbent Tom Torlakson. His opponent, Marshall Tuck, is backed by anti-union billionaires who support corporate-style education reform, lawsuits to erode teacher rights and undermine academic freedom, and the privatization of public education. CFT president Joshua Pechthalt will be available to comment on the issues and election results throughout the day and evening, as will local leaders of the CFT throughout the state.

WHAT: Election commentary
WHO: Joshua Pechthalt, President (Los Angeles); Jeff Freitas, Secretary-Treasurer
(Sacramento); local education union leaders throughout the state
WHEN: Tuesday, November 4, 2014
WHERE: Statewide
