SACRAMENTO – CFT– A Union of Educators and Classified Professionals President Jeff Freitas released the following statement from President Jeff Freitas condemning the violent treatment of Senator Padilla by the Trump administration:

“We condemn the detention and forcible removal of California Senator Alex Padilla earlier today from a press conference by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem in Los Angeles.

“Treating a sitting US Senator who was well within his rights to attend the press conference with that level of hostility and violence is absolutely unacceptable and is further evidence of the Trump Administration’s rapid descent into authoritarianism.

“We stand united with Senator Padilla and the communities in Los Angeles and across the nation in demanding the Trump Administration immediately stop terrorizing our immigrant communities.”
