Assembly Bills

.Assembly Bill 591(Dymally, D-Compton)
Allows community colleges to hire temporary part-time faculty to teach up to 67%, rather than 60% of the hours per week that constitutes a regular fulltime faculty assignment.

Assembly Bill 743 (Solorio, D-Santa Ana)
Mandate ratio for classified security staff to students
Mandates a minimum ratio of one full-time, qualified classified security employee for every 500 students in each California middle school and comprehensive high school.

Assembly Bill 1463 (Eng, D-Monterey Park)
Changes collective bargaining authority for educational employees employed by a Joint Powers Authority from the Meyer-Miller-Brown Act (MMBA) to the Educational Employees Relations Act (EERA) to protect employees who were shifted to MMBA in the early 1990s.

Assembly Bill 1916 (Portantino, D-Pasadena)
Allows community colleges to hire temporary part-time faculty to teach up to 67%, rather than 60% of the hours per week that constitutes a regular fulltime faculty assignment.

Assembly Bill 2053 (Karnette, D-Long Beach)
Makes reappointment rights (aka return rights) a mandatory scope of bargaining for part-time adult education teachers who teach more than 20% of full time.

Assembly Bill 2657 (Solorio, D-Santa Ana)
Mandates a minimum ratio of one full-time, qualified classified security employee for every 500 students in each California middle school and comprehensive high school.

ACR 91 (Mendoza, D-Artesia)
Resolves that at least 75 percent of faculty members on each campus of every public institution of higher education will be tenured or tenure track.  Also calls for all part-time and adjunct faculty to receive pay and benefits that are equal, on a pro rata basis, to those of tenured and tenure-track faculty with comparable qualifications doing comparable work.

Senate Bill

Senate Bill 1676  (Negrete McLeod, D-Chino)
Requires the personnel commission, in school and community college districts operating under the merit system for classified employees, to make an annual performance evaluation of the personnel commission director, and authorized inclusion of classified employees in that process.
