CFT Statewide Ballot Proposition
Recommendations
NO Proposition 91
Changes the law relative to use of transportation funds and is no longer supported by its backers due to a legislative compromise.
YES, YES, YES Proposition 92
Provides the chance for every Californian to go to college by reducing student fees and stabilizing funding for the community colleges. As CSU and UC tuition rises out of sight for working families, community colleges are increasingly the only affordable option for higher education. Prop 92 will make sure that will continue to be true. MORE ON PROP 92
YES Proposition 93
Reforms terms limits by reducing the number of years that California legislators can serve, but allows them to serve all 12 years in either the Assembly or the Senate. Under the current system, legislators don't have the time to gain the experience they need to make important decisions about the complex issues involved in overseeing the state's budget. By the time we have educated them, they are forced out of office. MORE ON PROP 93
NO Proposition 94, 95, 96, 97
Gambling deal that fails to protect worker rights, protect the environment, or provide any funds to schools and colleges. Four already wealthy tribes would be able to make even more money by setting up more slot machines than in the dozen biggest casinos in Las Vegas. Other Indian tribes oppose this sweetheart deal too.
