San Francisco, February 26—Five thousand unionists and supporters answered the call for a national Day of Solidarity with Wisconsin public employees.  CFT members Allan Fisher and Alisa Messer of the San Francisco Community College Federation of Teachers, Melinda Dart of the Jefferson Elementary Federation, Ken Tray of United Educators San Francisco, and many others speak movingly of the epic struggle being waged across the country in defense of collective bargaining rights in the accompanying video.  

Oakland, February 22—Members of CFT Bay Area locals came out for a hastily-called rally in solidarity with Wisconsin public employees fighting to preserve their collective bargaining rights.  More than 300 appeared before the state building in downtown Oakland on less than 24 hours notice (see three minute video).  Meanwhile, several thousand union members rallied in front of the state Capitol in Sacramento at the same time.  Fred Glass videos
