Events are highlighting the deep anger felt by educators across California at the terrible budget signed in February by the governor and Legislature.  On March 13, teachers and classified employees demonstrated with community allies in local school districts.  They picketed, sat in, came together in meetings, and leafleted parents at local school sites across the state to help inform the public of the severity of the state budget cuts imposed on public education.  They argued for local administrations to keep cuts away from the classroom, but also protested the entire conceptual framework of the state budget, which was based principally on program reductions, with only regressive taxes and poorly conceived borrowing to produce an inadequate amount of new revenue.

There are alternative ways to solve the state's financial crisis, based in fair, progressive tax policies. For more information, contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
