CFT launches traveling billboard, urges public to call legislators

On Tuesday, July 29, Sacramento educators, seniors and health care workers spoke out on the need for Republican legislators to leave behind their tired anti-tax rhetoric and get real about solving the state budget problem. "Our billboard will help put pressure on legislators who refuse to consider any new taxes," says Dean Murakami, president of the Los Rios Community College Federation of Teachers." When public education, health care, and public safety face 17 billion dollars in cuts, the integrity of California's future is at stake. We need revenue, not rhetoric."
The CFT is working on coordinated efforts with other education organizations and allies in the labor movement and broader community to convince the public and elected officials in Sacramento that the budget deficit must be addressed through fair tax policies.
