THe CFT Community College Council's discussion during the CFT convention April 11-13 of whether to engage in talks about potential merger with the CTA's Community College Association drew numerous speakers to the microphones and forty five minutes of sometimes heated commentary. John McDowell of the LACCD makes a point during the discussion.

The CFT Community College Council is the policy making body for the community college segment of the California Federation of Teachers. The Council is composed of presidents from all of the Federation community college locals in the state. The Federation represents both full-time and part-time faculty in community colleges.
