Committee members

The CFT Labor In The Schools Committee was formed to assist teachers in reaching students with information about the history and current place of the labor movement in American democracy. The members of the committee are classroom teachers as well as faculty from community college and university labor studies programs. The committee meets several times a year to plan, develop and evaluate various programs. These include a clearinghouse of curricular materials and labor education activities around the state; development of lesson plans on labor across all subject matter areas and grade levels; workshops for teachers and interested trade unionists to give them access to these materials and tips on teaching about labor; and overseeing work on the long-term California labor history curriculum project, Golden Lands, Working Hands.

The CFT Labor in the Schools Committee is available to assist teachers in all aspects of teaching young people about the labor movement, and welcomes comments and suggestions about these topics. Communications may be directed to Chair, Labor in the Schools Committee, CFT, One Kaiser Plaza, Suite 1440, Oakland, CA 94612, 510/832-8812.
