ECE Organizing Project Report-new staff members, Contract Gains of 6361, Organizing potential for 4Cs at State building in Oakland and K-Dango, Packard Grant ideas; Pilot project for ECE educators, shortage of ECE Teachers, paras, subs. Community College Leaders. Conference at Kenyetta College. Quality Care issues and ECERS, the California Quality Ratings literature and issues. Community Care Licensing issues/concerns that are in conflict with districts rules and regulations.

• ECE Organizing committee is collaborating with Voice/Coalition in hasting a briefing February 15, 2007 at State Capitol. They will present 5 points:

• 1. Waiting list
• 2. Land use/facilities
• 3. Wages/benefits
• 4. Health Care
• 5. ?

• Health Care & ECE workforce-Kids Plus -Workforce needs to know why -Need members without medical coverage (see 1475)

• Conversations with Pre-School California

• CTA has legislator re: Kindergarten and 5 years (Sept.)

• Executive Assembly voted for “Organizing Committee” expansion to 5 years; Sandra is an “employee”.

• CDC autism was shared by Carla.

• Elaine F. concerned how we can support our local union’s issues/concerns if lively conversation occurred.

• Legislative Issues: Adequacy in Pre-School Study.

• Prop. 49 funds-S.F. Concern with millions in after-school CALSAC.

• Convention: who is attending?

• Next meeting

• CAEYC Convention March 8-10, 2007-San Jose.

• Resolutions.

Actions Taken

• Elaine F.-will draft a letter of support from our committee to her local.
• Committee submitted questions to candidates.
• Elaine F and Betty will convene a workshop at 2007 CFT Convention.
